Drake’s Typical Morning

Drew Drake suddenly awakes. Darkness possesses his bedroom as it is only 4:41 am. He crawls out of his barely disturbed bed. Five or six hours of sleep is typical for this principality and power fighter.

As soon as his feet hit the floor, Agent Drake’s training makes him fully awake. He has learned to deny himself any urging to slip back under the covers until the sun pokes its head up over the horizon. He listens but senses no unusual distress.

The first stop is the bathroom. Drew greets a furry companion by stroking the head of a purring Paisley who hunches quietly on the toilet seat. Neither Paisley nor Drake notice that thirty-two corrupt off-white sprites line up prepared to do battle. DK, Dark Kingdom constantly looks for opportunities to challenge and conquer Drake and take him captive.

As a carnal being, Drake is at a disadvantage against the forces hidden in the realm between physical and mental. Paisley, although unable to see them, senses something is wrong. She leaps off the toilet seat. This action alerts Drake to the impending danger. His training summons spiritual forces within him to be on guard against the unseen adversaries.

Drake moves freely without fear but with caution through normal routine. Physical hygiene accomplished. Pet fed and watered.

The Sprites watch carefully waiting for Drake to drop his guard. DK intelligence has studied him. They have a record of every weak moment. The Sprites will recognize the moment of attack. They know the next few moments may not afford such a moment. So, they remain quiet, unassuming, hidden in the cloak of the disappearing darkness and the dawning of a new day.

Drake picks up his cellphone and recognizes a text from one colleague about another.

Discovered Star Vanderbilt to be double agent. Has been providing intelligence information to DK. I know she was very close to you. How much did she know?

The Sprites smile. Drake’s countenance drops and fear rises. How much did I share with Star? Drake was falling in love with her. They – maybe just he alone – was intimate, vulnerable with her. What did he share? Drake begins to doubt and feel betrayal. His yet unjustified anger bubbles up in his heart.

The Sprites swarm like disturbed bees attacking him from all angles – physical pain, mental distress, emotional chaos and spiritual conflict. In his weakened state, he cannot escape this powerful attack. He is outnumbered by the multitude of ghost-like beings pounding him aiming mostly at his chest and stomach.

Suddenly, he stops fighting with every ounce of his strength and surrenders as he has been disciplined to do in these situations. The Sprites’ defensive weakens. Their weapons of doubt and fear and guiltiness have no effect on Drake. Slowly, one by one the Sprites retreat back out of Drake’s consciousness.

Paisley crawls up into the lap of the now lounging Drew Drake. He leans back with a sigh of relief and prayerful whisper as he gently strokes the head of a snuggling Paisley.

His KOLE counterintuitive training brings the invisible weapon and superhuman armor he needs to defeat the real enemy once again. Freedom comes from submission, not to the forces of fear and doubt, but to KOLE – Kingdom of Life Everlasting.

“Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.”
‭‭Matthew‬ ‭11‬:‭28‬-‭30‬ ‭KJV‬‬
