What are your future travel plans?
I was reminded yesterday how much of a fool I am for believing in a spiritual realm. It’s remarkable to me how some can assume that because you believe in God, angels, and demons that you have not submitted those beliefs to actual critical thought and practice. To say that because one cannot see, touch, taste, or experience it, “it” doesn’t exist is more intelligent than entertaining the possibility that there’s more to existence than what I can imagine seems rather closed minded to me.
Is it not more open-minded to accept the possibility of a Creator than closing your mind to any possibility of it? Judge me a fool if you wish, but allow me to share an observation from one of the writers from a compilation of writings and letters, history, poetry, prophecy, and philosophy we call the Bible:
“For in the same way you judge others, you will be judged, and with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.”
Matthew 7:2 NIV

Fool I am. That’s why I remain open to possibilities beyond my grasp. My mind is freed from the indoctrinations of limited worldly understanding to believe in counterintuitive wisdom. That is why my travel plans include the ultimate journey to a promised land I know very little about.
The Bible says very little about this place we call Heaven. Most of its description is in symbolic terms. Jesus said little about it even though he claimed to come from there and claimed to be returning there.
What I do know of Heaven is the part which excites me most about it. It is not the impossibility of no more pain and suffering. Although that is very appealing. It is not the streets of pure gold or the mansions. Those descriptions may or may not be symbolic. It really doesn’t matter to me. The idea of total and perfect Enlightenment is wonderful, but not my ultimate thrill.
The most exhilarating possibility is that I will one day have reached the life this body cannot accomplish. I will one day achieve the Eden-like status of gratitude in forever worship of my Creator King.
Part of my preparation for that journey is living a life of non-conformity to my narrow understanding and open-minded to the will of God for my life. That starts with the first act of spiritual freedom surrendering my self-identity built on the things I’ve experienced and can experience to totally identifying with Christ. There’s nothing more I need to do except tell you about it.

I have the rich life full of a sinner wounded by misunderstanding and punishment but blessed by mercy and forgiveness.
