How do you use social media?

There are different ways in which I use social media. I will on rare occasions post an outing or event I attended especially if it involved or included family. I also promote blog posts, books, or events where I promote my work. I might repost something that I feel is valuable or useful information. I also use social media to rejoice with those family members and friends who rejoice or weep with those who weep.

Mostly my activity on social media consists of commenting on other posts. I believe that qualifies me as a stalker. Resting between activities or waiting in waiting rooms, I peruse posts and “like” or whatever. I also try to engage to encourage the post host or reposter. Also, more often than I like to admit, I comment to discourage the reposter from blindly accepting the post hosts “truth.”

I believe in freedom of speech. I like to exercise that freedom as well. I try and respect others’ opinions. My comments often are for the reposters to remind them of the importance of critically and carefully thinking about the facts supporting the content or the author/source. My comment is not politically, religiously, or philosophically motivated. I just believe we need to think before we accept.

I believe too often the American mindset mistakes conformity with conviction. Conviction includes much thinking and reflection and testing. We often stunt our mental, emotional, and spiritual growth conforming to ideas that just sound right. Growth comes from renewing our thinking often after experience teaches us differently.

You know that foolishness is doing the same thing over and over hoping for a different outcome. This often happens as a result of a failure to think, reflect, renew. This is often why I post or repost what I do or comment on social media.

I have the rich life full of a sinner wounded by misunderstanding and punishment but blessed by mercy and forgiveness.
