If you could be a character from a book or film, who would you be? Why?
Now, you’re going to read this and think I’m cheating with a cheap promotion. You may be right, but here it is anyway.
The character I would be is Joshua Crockett. Not the Josh in A River Bend, he is a little too one dimensional. But in Through the Valley of the Shadow, Josh stays kind and loyal, but also becomes heroic, anxious, and just a wee more human.
I chose him because I portray him as a Christlike character which I wish to be. Realistically, I am more like Marcy, Josh’s love interest who is drawn to Josh Crockett-like characteristics, yet still being lead astray by old ways and desires of the heart.

I have the rich life full of a sinner wounded by misunderstanding and punishment but blessed by mercy and forgiveness.
I love how you’ve developed Joshua Crockett into a more nuanced, Christlike figure in Through the Valley of the Shadow. His growth from a loyal character to a more heroic and human one is inspiring. It’s also interesting that you relate to Marcy, grappling with desires while being drawn to Josh’s ideal qualities. This internal conflict adds richness to both characters and highlights the beauty of storytelling, where both characters and the writer evolve together.

Thank you for these incredibly encouraging words. I am hesitant to encourage you to read my novels fearing your expectations are too high and lead to a disappointing experience.
